Homemade Triple Berry Granola

I love granola and for a while I have been wanting to make my own. It makes a lovely gift (I put some in a jar for my yoga teacher, with an oh so cute tag.) The Kitchen Sink (blog) gave me a basic recipe to follow which uses maple syrup, canola oil, brown sugar, vanilla extract, honey and sea salt. Click here to get the recipe. I followed her recipe for the liquid, but for the dried ingredients I mixed it up. But the versatility of granola is what makes it so much fun. Your creativity can be unleashed on these simple rolled oats. I chose a triple threat of dried blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries plus for a nutty side, I used thinly slice almonds and chopped walnuts. It comes out nice and toasty, fruity and obviously crunchy. Making it is so easy, I have no clue why I even bought it. No more store bought..now my yogurt will be topped with this crunchy HOMEMADE good stuff.

A side note: I want to formally give a special thank you to Ella Bella farms for providing me and my family with amazing produce over the years. I am sad to announce their departure from California and the market. In short, Ella Bella farms, you will truly be missed. They finally have achieved their dream of being able to purchase land in the great Big Island and continuing their farm. It has been a pleasure eating your food, and getting to know your family. I wish them only the best, even if I do shed a tear. I am jealous of any Hawain receiving their CSA box and organic chocolate.

I've been meaning to make my own granola for the longest time, but just never got down to it. Silly really because I always have the ingredients at hand. Then last weekend, I went out and bought some. Groan.

THanks for leaving me the rest of your granola. I have been enjoying breakfast especially with the triple berries.

Iwas at the SF Farmers Market on Sarurday morning and it was a sad day indeed not to have Ella Bella's fabulous foods.

I haven't gotten around to making my own yet and it's a shame 'cause I love granola.

I like the addition of the berries to the mix.

I love homemade granola. It brings out my inner hippie.

Dried raspberries would be so good. We don't have any here. Well, I guess I could make my own.

I went to Spice Market, by the way. I think it was on West 13th Street. Really good!

Emiline: Thanks for telling me about the dessert. I surprisingly have never been there but have been meaning to check it out. I actually refer to some people as "Crunchy Granola" ---if the shoe fits.

Your granola looks "scrumptious". Most granolas try to do too many things, while yours seems be just the right mix of ingredients so that you can really enjoy what is going on in the dish.
Your blog never ceases to amaze me with it's diversity of eceletic restaurants, recipes, foods and most of all the great way you represent them all. Keep up the great work.

mmm. this looks so simple and delicious. Someone mentioned giving it as a gift--never thought of that before, but how perfect! That is exactly what I am going to do. And I will definitely tell who ever recieves my little homemade present that the recipe is from you! :)
